Tongji Hospital Ranked the First of “Patients and Medical Staff Satisfaction 2020” Among General Hospitals

On March 20, the National Health Commission announced the results of the ranking of "Patients and Medical Staff Satisfaction of Chinese Hospitals 2020”, and Tongji Hospital of Huazhong University of Science and Technology ranked the first among general hospitals in the country.

China's "Further Improvement of Medical Services Action Plan" (referred to as the "Service Improvement Action") was launched in January 2015. The expert team of Peking Union Medical College conducted five third-party assessments for "Service Improvement Actions" from February 2016 to March 2021 under the entrustment of the Bureau of Medical Administration of National Health Commission and the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. They conducted a questionnaire survey of more than 200 sample hospitals and nearly 500,000 patients and medical staff in terms of the implementation of the "Service Improvement Action", the satisfaction of outpatients and inpatients, the working environment of medical staff, and their jobs’ satisfaction. The survey covered the Provincial People's Hospital, the Provincial Maternity and Children's Hospital, the Provincial Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Commission-managed hospitals representing China's first-class tertiary hospitals from 31 provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the Central Government and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps) . Based on the fourth and fifth evaluations, the expert team selected a list of hospitals with "double satisfaction" for patients and medical staff in the four categories, namely, general hospitals, traditional Chinese medicine hospitals, Maternity and Children's Hospitals, and specialty hospitals.
