Director of Educational Programs in Radiology of MSKCC Visited Tongji Hospital

On invitation of Dean HU Daoyu and deputy-Dean WANG Liang, Dr. David. M. Penicek, Director of Educational Programs in Radiology of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) and also First vice-Chair of Radiological Society of North America(RSNA)visited Tongji Hospital from April 14th to 16th, 2013.

Vice-President WU Hua received the guests and gave a brief introduction of Tongji. After that, both parties extended a communication of the cooperation in clinical, teaching and S&R. Dr. Penicek visited Radiology Department and new surgery building after the meeting. He spoke highly of Tongji’s efforts in imaging subject and paid a compliment on Tongji’s development scale and level.

On the afternoon of April15th, Dr. Penicek gave a lecture with the theme of Characterizing and Staging Bone Tumors at MRI and Characterizing Soft Tissue Tumors at MRI: What is realistically possible? Over 200 postgraduates, foreign students and young doctors as well as teaching faculty attended the lecture. At the end of the lecture, everyone was involved in the hot discussion of the technology and research they were interested in with Dr. Penicek.

With the longest history, the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) is the largest private cancer center in the world. The center devoted a lot on both the clinical and S&R that the S&R fund amounted at hundreds of millions dollars every year. With the top ranking of American Oncology subject, the center has produced over 10 American academicians and Nobel winners.

Dr. David M. Panicek, MD, FACR, the director of Educational Programs in Radiology, is the physician and also vice chair for Clinical Affairs, Department of Radiology of MSKCC. Graduated from Medical School of Cornell University, Dr. Panicek is the member of Radiological Society of North America, American Radiology Society, American Roentgen Ray Society and European Radiology Society. From 2009, he took the office of the first vice-president of Radiological Society of North America and he is also the chief editor and associate editor and review of many Radiology journals. Up till now, Dr. Panicek has published 98 SCI papers and 22 journals.
